The Executive Chairman of MGC (Mahtani Group of Companies), Rajan Mahtani, has some unforgettable contributions in Zambia. With developments like the Finance Bank, Zambian Prisoner Fellowship and Radisson Blu, he has been one of the finest people in Zambia to foster the channels of growth in the region. His latest plan is to develop a bio-plant in the Luapula Province such that the existing resources of the locality can be utilized in the best possible way.
The news of setting up a new plant in the Luapula Province was first proposed in 2015 and after FBZ was taken over by BancABC, this proposed project came to limelight. The project is currently being financed by two of the leading companies, namely, the Sunbird Group and the MGC (Mahtani Group of Companies). With an estimated cost of USD 190 million, the plant would be ready to roll by the end of 2017 and the locals will find a decent opportunity to find a way to earn their living.
The Luapula Province has been subject to severe negligence and is one of Zambia’s most under-utilized areas. This is a good opportunity for the locals to find a rewarding future and be prepared to contribute towards the growth of the organization. One of the locals, commented, “Luapula Province has the potential to be the most rewarding area of Zambia, but sadly it has been overlooked by the people who make a development plan. At last, Rajan Mahtani was the one who has believed in the potential of the region and has agreed to give us something to cheer about. I have heard that the plant would be using Cassava as raw material and the same is available in abundance over here. I hope that this time around we get an opportunity to showcase our talent.”
