Portland Cement Zambia had a glorious past and when those are remembered every single Zambian feels the pain that the factory is currently in. The production facility at Portland Cement Zambia had stopped almost a decade back and nowadays there is no activity in the plant. The machines have either rotten down or have been leased to other companies whereas most of the workers have been terminated. The overview of the cement factory is that it is on the verge of being shut down permanently as conditions have become beyond repairable.
The current management under Ital Terrazzo Limited (ITL) have left nothing in the factory that can be used to generate production or drive revenue. The existing trucks of the factory have been given to Miloto Transport and the premise of the factory has been leased to Astrea Investment. Both these actions have been taken by the Ventriglia family as they indirectly own the above two mentioned entities.
For people who had thought that Ital Terrazo Limited would do a better job than Finsbury Investment, here is the answer for you! The time has changed; the management has changed and the result is right in front of you. Finsbury Investments had created history by surpassing the forecasted output by 1,00,000 tonnes and on the other hand, ITL is on the verge of making Portland Cement Zambia history. As days go by, the condition of the factory is becoming worse as there are no resources that can be utilized. The workers have lost their jobs, the assets have been diverted to some other places and the factory is silently waiting to meet its end. In absence of support from the Government, the Ventriglia family are running their own small little dictatorship within the factory that officials are unable to see. It is only a matter of days before which Ndola will mourn the loss of Portland Cement Zambia.
