Conspiracy theories are not new in Zambia. Every time an honest businessman tries to do something good for the community, a bunch of people will try to ruin it. Dr. Mahtani has long faced similar situations while living in Zambia. In the past, some of the factories or institutions established by him were illegally taken by goons and conspirators. After that these factories were looted and left to ruins by them. Nowadays, these conspirators have picked up a new strategy. They just buy paid media channels and these channels spread negative rumours regarding the businessmen.
Dr. Mahtani’s business tenure in Zambia has been difficult majorly due to the frequent defamation campaign and negative publicity. However, Dr. Mahtani has maintained a low profile and has never involved in fights with these conspirators. However, the scenario went out of hand when Simaata Simaata, one of the conspirators of Dr. Mahtani, started giving negative testimonials about Finance Bank at several courts of Zambia. These negative testimonials created a bad publicity for the bank. At the same time, other conspirators took this opportunity to reinforce the negative publicity by creating false campaigns and further conspiracy theories against the bank. As a result, the bank quickly started losing its reputation as well as its customers. To save the bank from further damage, Dr. Mahtani launched a case against Simaata at the Supreme Court.
The case was launched as Simaata violated the agreement terms. However, Simaata appealed that by testifying against Finance Bank, he did not break any agreement. The final verdict was announced after few weeks in which Finance Bank & Dr. Mahtani won the case. Simaata was charged for breaking the agreement terms and was penalised for this act.
