Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani, the chairman of Mahtani Group of Companies has achieved yet another milestone by making history in Zambia and all over Africa. According to a news published by Zambia Daily Mail, the Portland Cement Zambia has surpassed its targeted output by almost 30%. The annual production for the year 2014 stands at 4, 73, 985 tonnes as compared to the estimated production of 3, 60, 000 tonnes.
The excess production was made for the purpose of cushioning the Ndola Housing Project. The project involved completion of 71 houses by the Mahtani Group of Companies which ensured that most of the displaced people in Ndola could find a shelter. Another confirmation which was soon highlighted involved a promise to build a fresh lime plant in Masaiti. The lime plant would be complete within a period of 2 years and offer the locals with employment opportunities.
Portland Cement Zambia has remained an integral part of Mahtani Group of Companies for a very long time. However, the factory prefers to remain aloof from the limelight and continue towards chasing its goals. This is the same cement factory which had once outcompeted the cement giant, Lafarge from Africa. It is time that the people of Africa believe in their home factories and move ahead with togetherness to achieve the status of a developed country.
