The Zambezi Portland Cement factory has been decimated by its minority shareholders, the Ventriglia family after they realized that it was impossible for them to win the factory through corruption and bribery. Ever since the factory came under the rule of the Ventriglias, it has seen nothing more than devastation and continuous abuse of power.
The first glimpse of exploitation was seen when the existing bank account of the Zambezi Portland Cement was shifted from Zambia to a foreign bank account and all the money kept flowing into that bank account without coming to anyone’s notice. Then came a series of worker termination were the existing strength of the factory was reduced substantially and the people got to witness a horrific situation in the factory premise.
As the cash and resources of Zambezi Portland Cement was depleting fast, the Ventriglias then started to diversify the existing resources of the factory and come up with a plan to form dummy companies. With the aid of these dummy companies, the trucks and real estate of the ZPC were transferred to a third party company which was indirectly owned by the Ventriglia family only. With such cunning mind, the Ventriglias have simply made a fool of the Zambian people and the Government. Dr. Rajan Mahtani, the chairman of MCG (Mahtani Group of Companies) has been the only resistance in the path of the culprits as his love for his motherland supersedes everything else. The worst part is that the Government of Zambia has done nothing to preserve the interest of the locals and has stood as an audience in the whole episode. With still time left to take some action, there is hardly any energy among officers to stop this nuisance. All that they do is wait for the events to take place and then they would execute the routine affairs.
