There has been a dramatic change in the scenario ever since the Lusaka High Court has granted Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani with the permission to go for a judicial review . The judgement was made on June 25 2015 by the High Court Judge Mwiinde Siavwapa, who acknowledged the appeal and honoured the same with his consent.
The whole issue ignited on June 02 2015 when the Ventriglia family bribed police officials and got Dr. Mahtani arrested on account of a case which was related to forgery. Moreover, the case belonged to 2012 and was then permanently closed by the Attorney-General. Notwithstanding the previous decision, the DPP made an arrest order and the former Finance Bank Chairman was put behind the bars in one of the most infamous arrest cases in the history of Zambia.
But now, Dr. Rajan Mahtani has got a judicial review whereby he can question the authenticity of his arrest and beg for justice under the Zambian Law. The impact of this judicial review can very well lead Zambia to the pool of the conspirators who are constantly looking forward to create hindrance and promote corruption.
