High Court Judge makes a vital judgement for Dr. Rajan Mahtani

The Chairman Mahtani Group of Companies, Dr. Rajan Mahtani has faced a serious conspiracy from the minority shareholders of Portland Cement Zambia, the Ventriglia family. In the past 10 years, the conspirators have been claiming that Dr. Rajan Mahtani was engaged in forging signatures in the transfer documents which resulted in the transfer of ownership from the Ventriglias to the Finsbury Investments.

Though the case was already brought to the notice of the Court in 2012, it appeared that the conspirators were not happy with the decision and once again tries to reopen the same in 2015. However, a factor worth considering was their nonchalant nature towards the legal system of Zambia. The law specifically states that a closed case cannot be reopened in future for obtaining a fresh decision, yet the Ventriglia family induced the DPP and Attorney General to consider this case once more with the aid of unfair means.

Finally, on 19th November 2015, the case was once again placed in the Lusaka High Court and Hon’ble Judge Mwiinde Siavwapa was required to decide the case. As the case progressed, it was judged that the forgery case cannot be reconsidered as its outcome was already decided by another Judge in 2012. Reconsidering the same would mean disrespecting the judge’s decision and hence, the judicial system of Zambia will lose its value.

The outcome of the hearing in 2015 has made the conspirators furious. They went out blazing guns in their news portal – Zambia Reports and talked about another imaginative story where they claim that Dr. Mahtani had bribed the Judge to have the decision in his favour. Dr. Rajan Mahtani has spent his life for the development of Zambia and he has often faced criticism from people with whom he refused to mingle and promote corruption. This present represents a common man’s fight against the conspirators in Zambia.
